Dr Braungart is a ‘green chemist’ named as one of Time Magazine’s ‘Heroes of the Environment’. He co-authored Cradle to Cradle with William McDonough, a manifesto calling for the transformation of industry through ecologically intelligent design, and urging people to address the opportunistic approach to design fostered by the Industrial Revolution and its tragic consequences. As an alternative, they have presented a new design paradigm with practical steps towards innovation – in a ‘treeless’ book made from synthetic ‘paper’. Dr Braungart presents this subject in a witty and engaging format.
